Te Mana o Ngati Rangitihi Trust is dialing back its push to get a mandate to negotiate the Bay of Plenty iwi’s treaty claims.
Chairperson Graham Pryor says there has been negative feedback from iwi members about a planned series of mandating hui in October.
He says instead they will hold a hui a iwi to be held at Matata at the end of this month to clarify the views of the iwi, and the mandating hui will be rescheduled after that.
Mr Pryor says the Office of Treaty Settlements has approved Te Mana’s mandating strategy.
