One in five sacked in 90 days
Māori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell wants the Government to start collecting data on who is affected by its 90-day job trial law.
A survey of employers has found that 11,200 people have been sacked under the law since it was introduced in April 2011.
Employers can sack people in the trial period without giving any reason or incurring any liability for compensation.
Mr Flavell says knowing how many Māori and disabled people lost their jobs would help people understand how the law was affecting the most vulnerable communities.
Labour Minister says Simon Bridges he doesn't have the data.
He says while one in five workers on trials were being dismissed, over half the employers said they would not have taken on new staff without the trial.
