Marsh on top with Country Songbook
Dennis Marsh is back on top of the charts.
His Country Songbook has hit the number one album spot after only two weeks, pushing country superstar Charlie Pride from the spot.
That follows the incredible success of 2011’s Māori Songbook, which spent 26 weeks on the charts, and shows how loyal country fans are to their stars and to the CD format.
He says the album fits well with his Māori Television series, My Country Song, and shows what can happen when you listen to your audience.
"People say 'can you sing this one?' We listen to a lot of music. They're all handpicked. We go out of our way to think 'will this one fit this album?' It looks like all the choices have been the right ones," he says.
Dennis Marsh is just back from playing a Melbourne concert and 17 appearances at the Barham Country Music Stampede in New South Wales.
