Trust contributing to education strategy

The Comet education trust, which started as an initiative to boost education outcomes in south Auckland, has spread its wings to cover the whole city.
The renamed Comet Auckland moved into central city premises today after more than a decade at the Manukau Institute of Technology.
Mayor Len Brown says by bringing together all education providers from pre-school to tertiary, Comet is able to offer strategic advice to council.
"So in the Auckland plan we've made some every strong commitments about in 10 years time every student, whether they are coming through from kura or all other types of education institution, we want them to have NCEA stage two so they are coming into the workplace with the best potential qualification to get a good job'" he says.
Mr Brown says Comet is able to highlight successes within Auckland schools and spread good ideas.
