Rangatahi view sought on council
The Independent Māori Statutory Board and Auckland Council want to know what young Māori want from them.
They’re hosting a hui of up to 60 Māori youth in Mangere today to discuss participation and leadership in local government issues.
It’s one of the actions recommended in the council’s draft Children and Young People’s Strategic Action Plan, and could lead to the creation of a Rangatahi Leadership Forum.
Board chair David Taipari says providing opportunities for Māori youth to step up and contribute to society is essential for the region to progress.
