Young artists offered grants
Creative New Zealand wants to help Māori artists undertake projects in the early stages of their career.
Māori arts funding manager Haniko Te Kurapa says under the Toi tipu Toi rea initiative, Māori artists who submit an application for a Quick Response grant may be offered a Toi tipu Toi rea grant of up to $7,500.
There will be four such grants each funding round, with three rounds a year.
Creative New Zealand defines an ‘emerging artist’ as an artist who has achieved some success with at least one, and no more than four, public exhibitions, publications or performances.
Applications for the next round close next Friday, July 27.
