Head chosen for Māori business ginger group
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has plucked the head of the Māori section at Callaghan Innovation to run its new Māori economic performance unit.
Reece Moors from Tainui and Te Arawa had barely got his feet under the desk at the renamed Industrial Research crown research institute, after moving there from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
He has previously managed the Ministry of Education’s iwi partnerships, and started his public service career with the Department of Internal Affairs, executive government support unit coordinating official visits.
Ngahiwi Tomoana, the chair of the Māori Economic Development Advisory Board, says Mr Moors will play an important role in establishing the Crown-Maori partnership needed to make 'He kai kei aku ringa', the Māori Economic Development strategy, a reality.
