Flavell not keen on Harawira return

Māori Party whip Te Ururoa Flavell is unsympathetic to the prospect of Mana leader Hone Harawira coming back into the fold.
The Ikaroa-Rāwhiti by-election has sparked calls for unification into a single Māori political party, as the combined votes cast for the Mana and Māori Party candidates were more than those for the winner, Labour’s Meka Whaitiri.
Mr Flavell says people’s views may depend on whether they believe the Māori Party kicked out Mr Harawira or is he left of his own accord.
"I’ll say that a process was in place to address the issues of disloyalty, of dishonesty and of undermining the leadership and the Māori Party from within at the time he was a member of parliament. He chose to exit and I’m saying have those issues changed, of credibility, of integrity, of honesty, have those issues changed? The answer is no. The question would be then, would you go back to that arrangement having left it? I’d personally find it very difficult," Mr Flavell says.
