Keith Palmer to retire from Wakatu
Nelson-based Wakatu Incorporation is losing its long-serving chief executive Keith Palmer.
Chairman Paul Morgan says during the 15 years Mr Palmer has held the role it has grown from a relatively-small land-based trust to a $250 million group with interests in property, food, beverages and exporting.
He says Mr Palmer has built a strong Wakatu brand, and he has been able to work well in both Māori and Pākehā circles.
The incorporation is casting out its net globally for a replacement.
Wakatu has about 3000 Ngāti Rarua, Ngāti Tama, Te Atiawa and Ngāti Koata shareholders who are descendants of Māori landowners in Nelson, Motueka and Golden Bay.
