The BNZ is extending its Māori cadetship programme across the country.
The initiative was piloted in Auckland, Rotorua and Tauranga over summer.
Cadets were offered eight weeks paid work in different parts of BNZ’s business so they could get an idea of the career pathways within the banking sector.
Chief Executive Andrew Thorburn says it’s part of the bank’s plan to increase diversity in the workplace.
The bank is also looking at the Māori economy, which it believes will be crucial to overall economic growth in the next few years.
