Mana enters race for Ikaroa-Rāwhiti

It’s a three-way fight for Ikaroa Rāwhiti.
Mana has announced it will stand a candidate for the seat left vacant by the death of Labour MP Parekura Horomia.
Party Leader Hone Harawira says there have been calls from throughout the electorate for Mana to contest the June 29 by-election, and he thinks there is a good chance of winning.
Mana’s selection process will start on May 18 and it expects to announce a candidate by Wednesday May 22.
In 2011 the Mana candidate, Tawhai McClutchie, got 14 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, television producer Bailey Mackey has ruled himself out of the contest for the Labour nomination.
Broadcaster Derek Fox, who stood twice against Mr Horomia, the second time as the Māori Party candidate, has also said he will not stand again.
