League celebrates past and future
The Tāmaki Makaurau Māori Women’s Welfare League is also holding an open day tomorrow at Papatuanuku Kokiri Marae in Mangere.
Area representative Denise Ewe says the day is underpinned by the notion of looking back to go forward.
That means there is a lunch for kuia and kaumatua who are long term league members or supporters, as well as a youth debate.
The National President, Kaa O’Brien, will open the day soon after 9am, and past presidents Dame Georgina Kirby, Dame June Mariu, and Areta Koopu will also share some of their experience.
Wānanga and social services such as Breast Screening Aotearoa will have stalls, and there are competitions for top baker and cutest baby photo.
