Ahuwhenua finalist shows off
The first of the Ahuwhenua Trophy finalists, Te Uranga B2 Incorporation, threw its gates open today.
Public field days are an important part of the competition to pick the best Māori farmer, as the entrant’s share the methods and philosophies that make their enterprises stand out.
The incorporation’s Upoko B2 1100 hectare sheep and beef operation near Taumarunui carries 12,500 stock, half sheep including a ewe-breeding flock of mixed-aged romney coopworths, and half cattle, including an angus breeding herd.
Te Awahohonu Forest Trust’s Tarawera Station on the Napier-Taupo road will be opened next week, and Te Hape B Trust near Bennydale holds its field day on May 9.
