A receiver has dismissed assertions that a Taranaki dairy farm he is selling might be subject to Māori claims.
Okato farmer, Kelvin Gray, who lost the coastal farm when he could not service debt borrowed for a business, has claimed some of the land was gifted by Porikapa on the condition it remain in the Gray family.
Receiver, Denis Wood, says that land was sold in two lots in 1889 and 1893 by Porikapa’s widow Ruhira, and was in freehold title.
Ray Komene from Ngā Mahanga, says the farm includes two urupa and two pā sites.
