Songstress Sheehan ‘Chasing the Light’ with new album

It's been a decade since Maree Sheehan has released any music, but now she's back with a new album.
The Auckland-based artist made a splash with her singing and song writing when she emerged in the early 1990s, and her blend of dance-pop, traditional Māori instrumentation, hip-hop and RnB, broke new musical ground.
She says after a break from the industry, the time seemed right for 'Chasing the Light'.
“People always seem to ask me why I haven’t been doing music. This album has some beautiful songs on them and it’s the songs and the music that really inspired me to do another album. You’ve got some really heart-felt ballads around grief and losing people who were close to me and then you’ve got some upbeat songs like ‘Rock with me’ and ‘Do I wish’ which are far more reggae and summer songs. So light and dark really,” Maree Sheehan says.
