Maniapoto sign off on river plan
Maniapoto Māori Trust Board today signed an agreement with five local councils to jointly manage the Waipa River.
Chairman Tiwha Bell says the iwi is looking forward to working with the councils, industry and the wider community to restoring the quality and integrity of the river.
The agreement gives Ngāti Maniapoto input into Resource Management Act planning documents, a say in resource consent applications and a role in monitoring the environment and the effectiveness of regulations.
