Welfare changes appal Horomia
Labour’s Māori Affairs spokesperson says the Government’s benefit changes are a cynical attack on society’s most vulnerable.
The second round of welfare reforms going through parliament this week will put more pressure on young beneficiaries and solo parents to look for work.
Mr Horomia says they come at a time the Government is doing nothing to encourage job creation.
“They’re saying, we'll take you off if you don’t find a job! Some people are citing it as tough love – but I think it’s a whole lot of rubbish,” says Parekura Horomia.
