Māori Party MP Te Ururoa Flavell says many young Māori still don’t know about how parliament is run.
In his latest newspaper column, the Waiariki MP reported on his speech last week to Wintec’s Māori students union in Hamilton.
He says many of the rangatahi were surprised and shocked at his breakdown of the seats in Parliament and explanation of how and why parties form relationships.
Mr Flavell says many of those going into study don’t seem to realise how important their vote is.
