Mātauranga experts for river clean up

Experts in mātauranga Māori will be included in a group helping Waikato Regional Council develop strategies to restore and protect the health and wellbeing of the Waikato and Waipa rivers.
The council has signed off the appointment process for a multi-disciplinary group providing technical advice to the Healthy Rivers: Plan for Change project.
The project involves the council and its Waikato and Waipa river iwi partners working with stakeholders to develop changes to the regional plan.
Policy Manager Vaughan Payne says it will include experts from 10 specialty areas, including economics, social outcomes and Māori knowledge.
