Jones ready for style change on front bench

Labour MP Shane Jones is back on the front bench, but there could be a change of style in the wake of the Bill Liu affair.
A nine month investigation by the Office of the Auditor General has cleared Mr Jones of any improper motive, collusion, or political interference when he gave New Zealand citizenship to the Chinese businessman.
He says the inquiry into things that happened five years ago while he was an associate immigration minister has felt like being in a tunnel, but public scrutiny is part of the job.
“There’s a lot of negativity in this job when you get into the blogosphere and those sorts of sectors. But the bottom line is I’ve always been a slightly larger than life character and a colourful rooster. It’s obvious you need to rain in that freewheeling personality in public life because there are so many pitfalls,” he says.
Shane Jones says he’s looking forward to taking on the Government in his shadow responsibilities for regional development and associate finance.
