Turakina principal angry statutory manager imposed

The principal of Turakina Māori Girls College is angry the Education Ministry has imposed a statutory manager on the school.
Terehia Channings says Carol Lynch was put into the school because the Education Review Office visited last year and found that there was not a full board in place, and there were also questions about its financial stability.
She says those issues have been resolved, and all the school requested was a special advisor to help new board members understand their role.
She says the ministry has been heavy-handed.
The school has 85 pupils, and Ms Channings says there are no issues with academic performance or the day to day running of the school that would require outside intervention.
