Expatriate network available to Māori
Māori businesses are being encouraged to call on the resources and expertise of New Zealanders overseas.
KEA or the Kiwi Expat Association held an event with Te Puni Kokiri yesterday to show Māori what it has to offer.
Chief Executive Sue Watson says its 110,000 members include many Māori and Pākeha who are keen to do what they can do to help businesses seeking export markets.
“What we do is say to the Māori business community there is this incredible national asset that we’re building, which is the intellectual and financial capital that sits in the expat community, that is available to Māori businesses and we want you to use it,” she says.
Sue Watson says many expats have become disconnected from their home country, so they are unaware of the strides Māori businesses has made over the past few years.
