Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki has lost the head of its Te Wānanga Māori.
Tengaruru Wineera is leaving to take up an opportunity elsewhere in the tertiary sector.
His departure comes a month after WITT's board refused to renew the contract of Chief Executive Richard Handley, who is credited with ramping up the polytech's commitment to Māori development.
Mr Wineera says Te Wānanga Māori has the team it needs to continue to grow, as well as strong connections to Taranaki iwi.
