Tapu lifted at shark attack site

Local iwi held a ceremony at Muriwai Beach, West of Auckland this morning to lift the tapū in the wake of a fatal shark attack.
Muriwai man Adam Strange was attacked yesterday by a 3.5 metre white pointer yesterday while swimming around a headland from Māori Bay to Muriwai Beach.
A large group of Mr of Strange's friends and family slowly made their way to the Muriwai Beach Surf Club where a karakia was held just after 8am.
The beach has been closed to swimmers.
It was the first fatal shark attack on the New Zealand mainland since 1976.
