Polyfest a cause for pride

It’s only a fortnight to go to the Auckland Secondary Schools Cultural Competitions, and organisers expect it will be one of the biggest ever.
Co-ordinator Theresa Howard says the 38th ASB Polyfest at the Manukau Sports Bowl will involve just over 200 schools from 59 schools.
She says it's become a valuable contribution to the school year.
“It is all about pride. Students come to this festival wearing their uniform with pride and that’s what it’s about. You walk away and your happy with whom you have become. Many students find themselves, they become approachable and they take away skills that will help them in their future,” she says.
Theresa Howard says the Māori stage will again have three divisions, including a non-competitive section.
Polyfest 2013 is being launched at the Auckland War Memorial Museum tonight, and the festival itself is at the Manukau Sports Bowl from March 13 to 16.
