Auckland University’s Engineering School has offered a record number of places to Māori.
The school says it received 2,283 applications to its Bachelor of Engineering programme, nine percent up on last year.
About 800 students will get places, with 118 offered to Māori and Pacific students.
Gordon Mallinson, the Acting Dean of Engineering, says the growth in applications reflects, in part, the school’s commitment to reaching out to students who would not normally consider engineering as an option.
