Unity plea from new TOKM trustee

The newest director of the Māori fisheries trust says iwi need to work together to get their most out of their fisheries assets.
Ngāi Tahu leader Sir Mark Solomon was appointed to Te Ohu Kaimoana to replace another Ngāi Tahu Director, Rangimarie Parata, who completed two four-year terms.
He says initiatives such as the Hawaiiki brand concept advocated by Ngāti Kahungunu leader Ngahiwi Tomoana are the way to go.
“It's about relationship building and its getting there. We already have 13 iwi that have joined together with Aotearoa Fisheries through ICP, Iwi Collective. They are already working together and I think it will expand as time goes on”. Sir Mark Solomon.
Sir Mark Solomon says the principle of kaitiaki means iwi fishing companies need to have a concern for sustainability.
