Māori unemployment figures a disgrace

Mana leader Hone Harawira has slammed Employment Minister Steven Joyce for failing to grapple with Māori and Pacific unemployment.
He says the rate has been nearly three times higher than the Pakeha rate for each of the four years National has been the government.
Mr Harawira says National’s promise of a ‘brighter future’ with ‘jobs for all’ doesn’t seem to include Māori and Pacific Islanders.
He says Mr Joyce is still trying to blame the global financial crisis, but that has nothing to do with the racial mix of the unemployment statistics, which comes down to his government policies.
