Teamwork Key To Smoking Wero
Te Tai Tokerau Māori is being urged to vie with teams from Ngāti Kahungunu to give up smoking.
Ralph Ruka, the tobacco control officer for Northland District Health Board, says he’s looking for 15 teams of 10 people willing for the WERO Stop Smoking Challenge, which runs from 1st of March to World Smokefree Day on May 31st.
The idea is that team members support each other to quit, with the most successful team winning cash to be donated to a charity of their choice.
In last year’s pilot Wero, the Otiria Legends won $5000 for the Otiria Sports Club after all 10 team members managed to quit.
