The Māori Party may be feeling threatened by new polls out this week showing Labour is still the preferred political party for Māori.
A Digipoll for TV ONE's Te Karere of 1000 Māori voters on both the Māori and General rolls, 34 percent would vote for Labour, 28 percent for the Māori Party and 9 percent National.
The Greens got 8 percent support and New Zealand First and Mana 6 percent each.
However, two thirds of those polled did not know Labour’s leader was David Shearer.
The poll had a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
