Trickle down from iwi leaving urban Māori parched

The Iwi Leaders Forum has come under fire from one of the newest members of the New Zealand Māori Council.
The Council is also holding a meeting at Waitangi to update members on last week's water case hearing.
John Tamihere from Te Whanau ō Waipareira says he joined because urban Māori are getting thirsty waiting for resources to trickle down from the iwi leaders.
“The Māori Council has teeth and the Iwi Leaders Forum have money and influence. The question is what are they doing with it? If it wasn’t for the New Zealand Māori Council having a go about the water – guess what, they would all be lining up now for buying back an asset we already own with our own compensation money”. says Tamihere.
