Fire attack on Matauri rescue plan

Attempts to salvage the fortunes of a far north land incorporation have been set back by arson.
A building used as a sales office on a Matauri Bay development was burned to the ground in a suspicious fire early on Saturday morning.
The Matauri X Incorporation is trying to find buyer for beachfront sections so it can clear a runaway debt incurred when a previous management committee borrowed money to invest in a water bottling scheme which failed.
Resident and former MP Dover Samuels believes the fire was the work of a faction opposed to the development.
