Ngāi Tahu looks at improving Dunedin relationship
Te Rūnanga ō Ngāi Tahu is looking at improving its relationship with Dunedin.
The iwi held a hui with Dunedin City Council this week to discuss ways to work together.
Kaiwhakahaere Mark Solomon says Mayor Dave Cull was the first Dunedin mayor he had met in his 15 years chairing the South Island-based iwi.
He says while Ngāi Tahu has invested heavily in Christchurch, its asset base in Dunedin is relatively light.
He says councils and the government are the iwi’s preferred investment partners, because of its intergenerational approach.
