Te Arawa scholarships awarded to the brightest young minds
Scholarships names in honour of one of Te Arawa's most famous sons are helping some of the tribe’s best and brightest young minds with their studies.
Eleven students who secured an overall grade average of A or better in a full year of university have each won a $5000 Sir Howard Morrison Education Foundation Scholarship.
The foundation was set up by John and Susan Amos in 2004 in memory of the entertainer.
Another ten Te Arawa students entering university for the first time have been given $1000 scholarships by Owen Glenn, a good friend of Sir Howard.
