Māori Shakespeare year’s best
The Māori language production of Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida was named Production of the Year in Wellington's Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.
Toroihi rāua Ko Kahira premiered in the New Zealand International Arts Festival before opening the Globe International Festival in London in April, which featured Shakespeare’s plays in 37 languages.
It also earned Rachel House the director's award, and Shona Tawhiao costume designer of the year.
Maraea Rakuraku won the Award for Outstanding New Playwright of the Year, and Nancy Brunning picked up Best Supporting Actress for her role in Clybourne Park.
The Chapman Tripp Accolade for Outstanding Performance went to Te Kohe Tuhaka for the one-man show Michael James Manaia.
