Giving park to Tuhoe earns political points


Treaty Negotiations Minister Chris Finlayson has been named Politician of the Year by politics newsletter Trans Tasman.
Its editors say he's a National Party minister who has given away a national park to Māori and no-one seems to mind much.
Labour's Louisa Wall rated highly after getting more debate and air time over any single issue with her marriage equality bill.
NZ First leader Winston Peters was praised for showing Labour how to do opposition politics, but dropped points for not having a succession plan.
Hekia Parata plummeted to 2 out of 10, with judges saying it looks as though she has moved past the point of her competence in the education portfolio, while Paula Bennett picked up points for her beneficiary bashing.
