Ruapehu journey wins education book prize
A tale of a journey on Mount Ruapehu has won the Te Reo Māori section of the Copyright Licensing New Zealand Educational Publishing Awards, the first time the category has been given.
Te Mana ō Ruapehu by Che Wilson of Ngāti Rangi and Carol Buchanan is number 90 in the long-running Te Wharekura series put out by Learning Media.
Learning Media's CWA New Media division and Huia Publishers picked up the inaugural digital award for he reo tupu, he reo ora, a website containing animated clips in Te Reo Māori.
Huia also published the winner in the Best Book in Higher Education Publishing category, which was He Korero – words between us: First Māori Pakeha conversations on paper by Alison Jones and Kuni Jenkins, which judges said was of huge national importance.
