Promise for Māori in Labour reorganisation
Hauraki-Waikato MP Nanaia Mahuta is promising Māori could be among the groups that stand to benefit from Labour's organisational review.
The review will be debated at the party's annual conference in Auckland this weekend.
Ms Mahuta, who was part of the review team, says there are many positive points.
"To grow membership; to put our policy platform on a longer projection other than a three year turnaround; to involve the membership more in the key decision making parts of the party like who leads the party; the role of young people in the party and the role of Māori in a growing and diverse Labour Party. Those would be takeaway points for Māori that would be positive," she says.
Ms Mahuta says the changes could be a challenge for some of the old rank and file.
