"Feed the Kids" bill out of ballot
Mana leader Hone Harawira is looking for wide cross-party support for his "Feed the Kids Bill," which has been drawn from the ballot.
The bill would require the government to provide breakfast and lunch at all decile one and two schools and kura kaupapa Māori.
The Te Tai Tokerau MP says it's a simple measure that would have a profound effect.
"We know that the research, both here and overseas, confirms the fact it's a huge benefit to school attendance, learning achievement, and the health of children and young people when they get nutritious meals at school. The teachers, the principals, the whānau, the kids will all tell you how much it changes the nature of the school itself," Mr Harawira says.
