Apanui Primary school to make room for reo lessons
Apanui School Principal Brian Robinson wants make a room available daily for reo lessons and a room for reading books in the old Apanui Infant School.
However there is a bit of a wait until the Whakatane Council and Ministry of Education conclude the approval needed. The old school building has been on its foundations without any services connected.
One of the problems has been Government criteria which does allow for funds allocation to buildings they do not own as in this case where the owner is Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi which also owns the Apanui shool grounds.
Kei te tumanako te tumuaki o te kura tuatahi o Apanui a Brian Robinson kia whakatu i tetahi taiwhanga o te whare tamariki tawhito o Apanui hei akoranga reo Maori me tetahi atu taiwhanga panui pukapuka.
Engari taihoa ake nga whakaritenga kia whakaae rano Te Kaunihera-ā-rohe o Whakatane me Te Manatu Matauranga.
