A Maori small business development agency is heartened by progress in setting up a cluster of Maori food exporters.
The Poutama Trust hosted a group of food and wine distributors from Hong Kong at Auckland’s Awataha Marae yesterday to demonstrate products ranging from manuka honey gels and bars to paua pickle.
Chief Executive Richard Jones says while China is a huge market, there is space for even small businesses.
The cluster is looking at marketing and promotion, but it could eventually also involve shared logistics and distribution.
