Maori language advocates have created a translation to allow people to use Facebook in Te reo Maori.
Project coordinator Karaitiana Taiuru says the reo script can be downloaded and used with the Google Chrome browser.
The translators, including noted educationalist Ian Cormack, used an unofficial translation system created by Neskie Manuel of Secwepemc First Nation in British Columbia.
The system is being used by almost 40 minority languages.
