Support programmes and mentoring are being credited for a big increase in the number of Maori students completing their courses at UCOL.
The polytechnic, which has campuses in Palmerston North, Whanganui and the Wairarapa, increased its total course completion rates by 9 percentage points to 71 per cent last year.
Chief executive Paul McElroy says Maori student course completion rates were up 15 points to 50 per cent for level 1 to 3 certificate courses, and 63 per cent for level 4 upwards.
