Tamati top but Love still loved by trust voters
Former league star and New Plymouth District Councillor Howie Tamati was the top polling candidate for election onto the Port Nicholson Settlement Trust.
He beat the second placed candidate, Sir Ngatata Love, by more than 100 votes.
Sir Ngatata has stood aside as chairman while the Serious Fraud Office investigates transactions between his partner, Lorraine Skiffington, and another body he chairs, the Wellington Tenths Trust.
Lawyer Jason Fox, who has asked the SFO to also investigate Port Nicholson, says most of the votes in the election would have been cast before the allegations against Sir Ngatata and his partner came to light.
Acting chair Mahara Okeroa, Liz Mellish were the other three successful candidates, while Hokipera Ruakere won the seat left vacant by the death of Sir Paul Reeves.
