Central Maori health workers hui on future path
More than 300 people have registered for this week’s Tu Kaha Maori Health Development conference in Whanganui.
Coordinator Gilbert Taurua, the director of Maori health at the Whanganui District Health Board, says there was national interest in the hui, which aims to help the Maori health network plan for Maori health development in the central region.
As well as health professionals, 60 year 13 students from across the region have been picked to attend so they can get a feeling for health as a career.
The three day conference will hear from American Dr Eduardo Duran on how traditional approaches can be integrated with western medicine to make healing relevant to native people.
