The chair of the Maori organic food growers collective says cooperatives are the best way ahead for Maori interested in growing distinctive crops.
Tahuri Whenua met at the weekend at Kaiwhaiki Marae on the Whanganui River.
Nick Roskruge says Maori growers are often smaller scale, so they have to be smart to service the market.

The collective next meets at Parihaka in February.
