Harawira calls out rivals over Key ban
Mana leader Hone Harawira is not backing down from an intemperate attack on the Maori Party over next week’s national water hui.
Shortly after Prime Minister John Key barred National’s Maori MPs from attending, Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia said she couldn’t see the point of her party going to Turangawaewae Marae.
Mr Harawira used Facebook to mount an all out attack on both John Key and on his former colleagues.
“He can’t think that every Maori who works for him has to do what he says all the time. That’s house nigger material. We’re older than that. We’re bigger than that. I was disappointed to hear Pete and Tari, right after John Key said his MPs aren’t allowed to go, for them to say they are not going to go either. It’s their choice. They’re supposed to be an independent party, not to have John Key tell them what they can and can’t do,” Mr Harawira says.
He will be going to next Thursday’s hui, and he hopes to see National Party Maori MPs break the ban and come too.
